Virtual or Traditional
MCSD has now opened the window for you to change your choice for student instruction for the 2nd semester. NO action is necessary by you, if you would like to continue your child's current mode of instruction.
Please make sure you notify your desired change to the principal at
burnett.jessica.o@muscogee.k12.ga.us  before 12:00 noon, December 8, 2020. Due to testing and end of year preparation, choice model preferences will remain in effect for the full spring semester (January 6-May 21, 2021).

This will look quite different from last year as we work through the challenges associated with COVID-19 and social distancing. Please read the message below in its entirety to understand the changes that will be implemented.
• If your child is showing any signs of illness, please keep them at home.
• Parents are encouraged to bring students to school to minimize the number of students on buses.
• Temperature screenings for staff and students entering the building will take place. Anyone with temps over 100 or higher will be sent home.
• Only faculty and staff will be allowed in the building during drop off and pick up.
• We cannot guarantee 3-6 feet of social distancing in the building or on campus at all times, but will promote and encourage appropriate distancing and proper hygiene.
• Students will participate in all assigned learning environments to include art, music, and gym.
• Parents are not allowed to join students for meals or visit the classrooms.
• All students and staff are required to wear a mask each day. Students must bring their own mask each day. We have purchased “holders” for the students’ masks. Masks may have images on them, but must be free of printed words. (The exceptions to this rule are wearing masks that supports higher education, for example, a college team, high school, or NCES, or a mask with your child’s name/initials.)
• Students need to bring a water bottle with them each day. Label it clearly with their name.
• Visitors are not allowed in the building during the school day. If you need to check your child out, you may report to the office. Please ensure your child has lunch boxes, backpacks homework etc. before leaving home.
• Students must wear close-toed shoes every day. (We recommend tennis shoes.)
• The late bell rings at 7:45 a.m. daily.
• Bus Pass – If you have already requested a bus pass your teacher will be sending you a copy of it by Saturday 09/12/2020. Your student does not need it to ride to school in the morning. The teacher will give your student a hard copy of it on their first day back to school so that they will have it to ride the bus home. If you have not requested a bus pass please do so today. See attachment. Please arrive at your bus stop 15 minutes before your pick up time in the morning and 15 minutes after drop off in the afternoon.
• Car Rider Tags – You received one at Verification day. You will receive a second one on your students first day back to school.
To ensure the safety of our students, we would like to inform you of our drop off and pick up procedures.
Morning Drop Off
• 7:00 a.m. - Bus and daycares may drop off in the back loop of the school
• 7:15 a.m. - Car-riders may be dropped off (KDG, first, second grade and siblings in the front car loop).
7:15 a.m. Third, fourth and fifth in the back car loop
• We will not allow car riders in the building prior to 7:15 a.m.
• Students arriving prior to 7:40 a.m. may choose to get a grab and go breakfast from the cafeteria.
• All students will have their temperatures taken before their parents leave the car loop line.
• Parents will not be allowed to walk students in the building.
Afternoon Pick Up
• Buses and daycares will pick up in the back loop.
• All car rider KDG, first and second grade students and siblings will be picked up in the front loop.
All Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students will be picked up in the back loop
(If you have multiple children, please default to the youngest child’s grade level on where to pick up).
You MUST have your car rider number hanging in the front window of your car to receive your student.
• Car rider pick up will begin at 2:00 p.m. Please do not pull into the school pick up line from Old Guard Road until 2:00 p.m. There is no need to arrive early.
• Please be patient with us as students load cars for the first few weeks. We are concerned about safety first and not the time it takes to load students. After the first two weeks, car rider lines move quickly and smoothly.

School Pictures
Make-up Picture order forms went home with the traditional “in person” students on Friday, November 12th. “Virtual student’s” parents may pick up their proof order form beginning Monday, November 16th in the office. Please drop your child off in the car line first, park your car in the front parking area and then proceed to the office to pick up your picture proof. There is a quick turn around on these. They are due back Friday, November 20th.

Christmas Pictures
These pictures are only for prepaid in-person or virtual students. The forms for the virtual students will be available in the office Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th, Friday 20th, and Monday 30th.  The virtual students may stop by to take pictures between 9 AM - 11 AM on Tuesday, December 1st.
